Illuminate Your Smile with Teeth Whitening
If stained teeth cause you to feel self-conscious about smiling, you are not alone. To some degree, tooth discoloration affects the vast majority of adults. Aging, genetics, smoking, dark-colored beverages like coffee and tea, and other factors can cause tooth enamel to become stained, even for patients who practice diligent dental hygiene.
Dr. Robert Rothenberg offers professional teeth whitening in his Manchester dental office, serving patients throughout St. Louis County, giving patients the opportunity to enjoy a whiter, more attractive smile, and renewed self-confidence. We offer in-office and home whitening treatments, to fit your schedule and budget. At your consultation, Dr. Rothenberg will explain all the options. In-Office Treatment : Fast and Effective
We proudly offer Sapphire™ White Smile, an in-office whitening treatment that produces stunning results in under an hour. After protecting your gums, the doctor will apply a powerful, hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel to your teeth. He will then expose them to the Sapphire Plasma Arc light, which activates the gel to chemically break down deep stains. In just one brief treatment, your smile will look noticeably brighter. And, Sapphire™ White Smile contains a desensitizing agent, making the process very comfortable.
With proper care and maintenance, your teeth can stay dazzling and white for many months. To enhance your results, Dr. Rothenberg recommends using Sapphire's take-home whitening trays for maintenance and touch ups.
Take Home Trays : Power Whitening At Home
Dr. Rothenberg provides two types of professional-grade home whitening treatments using custom trays. He offers the Sapphire Lumibrite™ gel as well as Opalescence®. The gel is similar to the kind used in in-office treatment, but is milder and comes in varying strengths. To create your whitening trays, Dr. Rothenberg will take impressions of your bite, then fabricate trays to fit your smile securely. You will fill the trays with whitening gel and wear them for the prescribed time, usually 30 minutes to an hour a day. These take-home kits provide striking results, superior to those offered by over-the-counter treatments.
Which One To Choose?
In-office and home whitening systems are both effective ways to whiten your teeth. In-office treatment is faster, making it a great choice if you have a wedding or another important upcoming event. In addition, you may prefer to have direct supervision from your dentist during the teeth whitening process.
Home whitening is less expensive, but home whitening trays take longer to achieve the desired results – one to two weeks versus about an hour. You should consider your personality when making your decision – if you think you might forget to wear the trays, or you lose interest before you complete treatment, in-office treatment might be the better choice.
Internal tooth stains, also called intrinsic stains, can be caused by a number of factors, including root canal therapy or tetracycline medications. Sometimes this tooth discoloration is caused by enamel loss or trauma to the tooth. These types of stains are generally not treatable with whitening products, but dental bonding or LUMINEERS® are options for covering these severe stains.
